Enjoying the experiences granted by the titular city, “New York” is the opening track to Addison Rae’s self-titled debut album. The instrumental outro was teased weeks before the album, and it’s existence on the album was first alluded to via a poster in New York. The song has strong Jersey Club elements.
On Zane Lowe’s podcast, Rae said:
“No (‘New York’ wasn’t done in New York City), but that makes sense right? Because then I obviously had a great experience in New York and then I came home. Of course it wasn’t written in New York but the concept started there. It’s like the fantasy of it all, you know?”
