State of Euphoria is the fourth studio album by Anthrax. It was released in September of 1988 by Megaforce Worldwide/Island Entertainment. The band and Mark Dodson produced and Alex Perialas engineered the album. Except for a few classic tracks, including Antisocial and Be All, End All, the critical reception was lukewarm; it failed to live up to the expectations set by the band's previous album, Among the Living.
State of Euphoria hit #30 on the Billboard's Billboard 200 chart and the album was certified Gold by the RIAA
The Song Misery Loves Company was based on the Stephen King novel Misery.
The song Now It's Dark was made into simlish for the radio on the The Sims PC game.
The song Now It's Dark appears to be inspired by the David Lynch film Blue Velvet, specifically the behavior of the sexually depraved, self-asphyxiating, murderous sociopath Frank Booth, as played by Dennis Hopper..although critically it was one of those that got overlooked, musically it satisfied old fans and locked in many more with its driving and sometimes complex rhythms putting the polish on more of scott ians unfettered songwritting, this album contains more than one song that still are a staple of the anthrax live experience
