“R.I.P. SCREW” is a heartfelt tribute to the late DJ Screw, a prominent figure in the Houston hip-hop scene credited to pioneering the ‘chopped and screwed’ genre which had a clear effect on Travis. The track literally ‘take(s) it slowly’ as a nod of respect, while touching on the pain and loss found in success.
Along with Screw, Scott additionally pays homage to Houston stars Big Moe, E.S.G., and Big Pokey, ending many of his lines with ‘mane’, much like the former’s “Maan!!”.
